Martial Arts Training Group in Redding, CA

Update: Please see our “Contact” link at the top of the page to contact us about training/lessons.

Many people are finding this site when they respond to some local postings about training in the Redding area. About a dozen people are currently training, with more inquiring every day. Everyone’s welcome to train, regardless of their experience level. This includes empty hands, various training weapons, and so on. We only ask that you be a legal adult of 18 or older, or you’re otherwise accompanied by a parent or guardian. We train safely, but realistically, so it’s probably not as good fit for non adults that aren’t at least 16 or so, just in case there’s that small chance of injury. Above all, safety and responsibility are paramount. In other words, we’re not just training to grapple in gi’s and tap out. Ground is part of any good system, but we train with realism in mind and it’s not really geared towards children or sport, though many things can certainly cross over well between sport and self defense aspects.

Fight Method Introduction video

This was all done in a single take/shooting, so I apologize if there is any repeated information or anything omitted, as we wanted to just get this out there quickly so we can start putting out the instructional videos for training. These are coming in the next few days, if not sooner, and will be added about every few days or so… so stay tuned!

If you can’t see the embedded video here, please go to the video on the FightMethod Introduction video.

Martial artist Dave Mancini (Filipino, Wing Chun, JKD, Silat, Boxing, etc.) holding seminars in Redding, CA this Sat and Sun 10AM-2PM, Feb 24th and 25, 2012. Contact me for more info!

Please know that this is not an event sponsored by FightMethod.com, but as I just found out about it and attended a portion of the seminar today, and will be attending the Sunday as well, in the slight chance anyone sees this in the Redding area, this will be something you’ll want to check out.

This seems to be more of an introductory seminar, as Dave Mancini intends to be in Redding and teaching over the next couple of years or so, so come by and check it out, as there aren’t a lot of places that offer Wing Chun, JKD and the Filipino arts (Kali, Eskrima, Arnis) in this area.

That said, if you’re interested in training with some skilled people in Arnis/Kali, please contact me, and I can suggest a few really good guys. As Dave Mancini gets classes going, I’ll post here about that as well.

Thanks,
Tim

The intention of the FightMethod.com site.

To anyone that reads this, welcome!

The intention of this website is to build a community of martial arts enthusiasts from around the world, as well as locally. To share and create concepts, training methods, techniques, and to improve our odds in fighting, regardless if it’s on the street or in a sporting event such as the cage.

Far too many people spend too much time arguing online about what works and what doesn’t, when we all probably just want to train instead. Therefore, the function of this site is geared to bypassing the debates and getting down to what’s real, what different ideas/concepts can offer and how they can benefit anyone.

No mystical nonsense, no arguing about what’s best, but just ideas that will work better for different people by default, and being thick skinned enough to speak about realistic training, if something can be improved, if suggestions can be made, and a desire to share insights and experiences in martial arts training and conceptualized areas where anyone of any style can benefit. At least, that’s the hope!

Soon, there will be a forum, information, contact for training locally, as well as a list of people that wish to submit links for local “fight clubs” of their own so they can hopefully get like-minded people together to train and collaborate with, as well as videos that will be submitted with various training and fighting methods/ideas. Users of the site will be welcome and encouraged to contribute in these varied ways, though everyone is free to view what we offer and offer suggestions, criticism, insights, or whatever else.

Stay tuned, there’s much more to come!

Thanks,

Tim
